the evening bells over the rooftops
are lovers’ vows.
Carol Ann Duffy
Weddings are full of possibilities to create a completely personalised ceremony that captures everything important to the happy couple.
As your celebrant, I will spend time with you to learn about your story, what makes your relationship unique and your aspirations for the future.
The wedding script will respond to your wishes, crafting a poignant ceremony that tells your story and celebrates your love with the perfect blend of joy, meaning, tenderness, humour, emotion and engagement.

Symbolic Rituals
As part of the ceremony, I will tell your story and this can be interwoven with other elements, such as the wedding procession, music, readings, the vows and the ring exchange. Your ceremony can also involve a symbolic ritual. I can create an original ritual for you, or traditional rituals can be included or adapted. Here are some existing rituals:

Handfasting
Handfasting is a ritual that involves linking the couple’s hands together. There are various methods of doing this, and we can choose the one that symbolises your relationship most effectively. The ritual can also be personalised to use significant material to bind the hands, and accompanying the ritual with a bespoke script.

Sandblending
In a sandblending ritual, different sands are poured into a receptacle to symbolise the union of the couple and their families. This might be sand from significant places, or different coloured sands, and family members may be involved in the ritual. The couple keep the mingled sand as a memento and sign of their commitment.

Wine blending
In a wine blending ritual, two different wines (usually one red and one white) are combined in a carafe to symbolise unity. The couple then pour a glass of the blended wine for each other as the celebrant raises a toast.

Unity candle
In a unity candle ritual, the couple symbolise unity by lighting a central candle using their own candles. The central candle can be customised with a personal design. Family members can also be involved in the ritual, and the lighting can be accompanied by a reading or a song.
